From January 25 to March 29, 2017 Cinema al MAXXI strikes back. This is the event that brings the seventh art to one of the most important locations dedicated to contemporary expressions. Thanks to a cultural recipe combining the ingredients of festivals, film exhibitions and film clubs into the same event, Cinema al MAXXI was an outstanding success among the public during its past editions, capturing the attention of tens of thousands of viewers.
The initiative will be held during CityFest, the cultural event organized by Fondazione Cinema per Roma  -chaired by Piera Detassis – and will be set up along with the MAXXI – National Museum of XXI Century Arts and Alice nella città, headed by Fabia Bettini and Gianluca Giannelli, in collaboration with Istituto Luce Cinecittà and Roma Creative Contest.
The program, curated by Mario Sesti and coordinated by Alessandra Fontemaggi, will consist of five sections: Extra, Exhibit, MAXXI Doc, Shortsleague, Alice Family.
“The MAXXI, which in recent seasons has seen talented actors and filmmakers such as Nicolas Winding Refn and Pablo Larraín, Bob De Niro or Wim Wenders, among others, has become a major hotbed of film creativity in the capital: the program, which is halfway between a film fest’s and a film club’s, will present short films by very young directors, highly anticipated premieres, innovative documentaries, family movies and classics such as Ozu’s films. It is a high-quality proposal and a cultural service followed by thousands of people”, said curator Mario Sesti.
