Una questione privata by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani will be premiered at the twelfth edition of the Rome Film Fest, which will take place from 26 October to 5 November 2017. The event is produced by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma chaired by Piera Detassis, under the artistic direction of Antonio Monda.
The two Tuscan authors – who have marked Italian and international cinema with their personal aesthetic standards made of constant references to poetry and realism, to literature and to civil and political issues for fifty years – bring the masterpiece by Beppe Fenoglio to the big screen. The novel was published posthumously in 1963. The stories contained in the book revolve around the young partisan Milton: against the backdrop of the Langhe, during the war, Milton takes a heroic and desperate journey in search of the truth about the love that links him to Fulvia, between romance and obsession, dream and mystery. In the protagonist’s role, there is one of the most prestigious Italian actors of the new generation, Luca Marinelli, who worked for directors such as Paolo Sorrentino, Paolo Virzì and Saverio Costanzo, and won the David di Donatello as supporting actor for Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot. Next to him are Lorenzo Richelmy and Valentina Bellè. Production is by Stemal Entertainment and Ipotesi Cinema with Rai Cinema.
“I am very proud to present a new, beautiful film by two masters of world cinema at the Rome Film Fest,” said Antonio Monda, artistic director of the Film Fest. “It’s a great love story, made by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, which translates Beppe Fenoglio’s novel into unforgettable and heart-touching images.”
