DIARIO DI TONNARA
by Giovanni Zoppeddu, Italy, 2018, 70’
A film about the community of tuna fishermen, torn between the pragmatism of their trade and the call of the sacred, in a paean to the demands of this way of life, but also the community’s natural inclination to ritual and tradition. The

It’s a documentary that retells tales of the sea that belong to Sicily and the world, through stock footage by masters of the genre, like De Seta, Quilici and Alliata, which belong to a particular chapter of Italy’s film history: times and films that can seem lost to us, yet spring to life, contemporary, close to us, thanks to this film.
