Tomorrow, Sunday October 24th at 8 pm in Sala Sinopoli at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, the new Marvel Studios film, Eternals by Chloé Zhao, will close the programme of the Rome Film Fest and Alice nella città.

Also in Sala Sinopoli, at 4:30 pm, the screening will feature one of the films from the Special Events section I Fratelli De Filippo by Sergio Rubini. In the early 1900s, the siblings Eduardo, Peppino and Titina live with their mother, Luisa De Filippo. There is no father, or rather, he is hiding under the guise of “uncle” Eduardo Scarpetta, the most famous actor and playwright of his time. While Scarpetta did not recognize his three children, he introduced them to the world of theatre. At his death, the De Filippo family had no claim to his estate, but Scarpetta did pass on his talent to them, something his legitimate son Vincenzo did not inherit.

La scelta di Maria by Francesco Micciché, starring Sonia Bergamasco, Cesare Bocci and Alessio Vassallo, will be screened at 12 noon at the MAXXI. In a stirring blend of archival footage, fictional recreations, interviews, and animation, the film delves into the story of Italy’s ‘Unknown Soldier’. November 4, 2021, in fact, is the hundredth anniversary of the burial of the Unknown Soldier in the Altare della Patria in Rome. Thanks to a collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the city of Aquileia, and the Istituto Luce Cinecittà, this film reconstructs the events that led up to that moment in 1921.

The Auditorium at the MAXXI, at 4 pm and 6:30 pm, will host episodes 3 and 4 of Muhammad Ali, the documentary by Ken Burns, Sarah Burns and David McMahon. The boxer Muhammad Ali was a twentieth-century icon: three heavyweight world championship titles, an outstanding combination of speed and power in the ring, of charisma and bravado outside, a devout Muslim, emblem of Afro-Americans, linked for a time with the Nation of Islam, first condemned then praised for refusing to fight in Vietnam. Following his boxing career, after coming down with Parkinson’s disease, he became a symbol of freedom and courage for everyone.
