The competition “Cuori al buio” (Hearts in the Dark) – an initiative aimed at the world of filmmakers for the making of a short film on the theme of violence against women – is open. Carried out by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, the project will be set up in synergy with the initiative promoted by the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The subjects of the short films shall be focused on socio-cultural behavior changes, in order to eliminate prejudices, customs, traditions and practices based on gender stereotypes and prevent episodes of oppression and discrimination. The main goal is to film places and characters, situations and relationships, ideas and emotions that are able to depict the themes of the competition.
The works will be viewed by a jury chaired by actress Maria Pia Calzone, together with director, screenwriter and writer Roberto Andò, and journalist and philosopher Ida Dominijanni. The three finalists will be screened during the thirteenth edition of the Rome Film Fest (October 18 – 28, 2018). The winner will receive a 2,000 euro prize, while the finalists will be awarded four accreditation badges each to enjoy the entire event more closely.
The works must be no longer than three minutes, and can be made by using any digital media (video camera, camera, smartphone, tablet). The short films must be registered no later than Monday 1st October.
