Nanni Moretti will be the protagonist of a Close Encounter with the audience during the twelfth edition of the Rome Film Fest, which will take place from October 26 to November 5, 2017, produced by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma chaired by Piera Detassis, under the artistic direction of Antonio Monda.
The filmmaker, who has been a lucid observer and an uncompromising critic of our society and its cultural and political drifts for forty years, will retrace the stages of his long-standing career on the big screen in front of the festival audience. He successfully played different roles: that of director- actor of many of his films (from Ecce bombo to Caro Diario, from La stanza del figlio to Mia madre), that of actor only (from Il portaborse to Caos calmo), but also that of producer, seller, viewer or juror.
“I’m thrilled that Nanni Moretti will be one of the protagonists of the upcoming Festa del Cinema di Roma,” said Antonio Monda. “His extraordinary career is one of the most exciting and interesting pages in the history of film, and not only on the Italian scene. I’m honored to go over the many stages of his artistic life, along with the public, and to go through all aspects of his profession.”
Among the talks and masterclasses scheduled for the next Rome Film Fest are David Lynch, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, Ian McKellen, Xavier Dolan, Chuck Palahniuk and Vanessa Redgrave.
