Anna Magnani is the protagonist of the official image of the eighteenth Rome Film Fest (18 to 29 October 2023).
The photo is a tribute to one of the greatest and most beloved actresses in Italian and international cinema, who passed away fifty years ago. This image portrays her smiling, surrounded by photographs at a press conference called in 1956 after she won the Oscar® for her extraordinary performance in the film The Rose Tattoo by Daniel Mann. Anna Magnani, who shows off to the camera a handkerchief printed with the image of a rose, was the first Italian actress to win the prestigious Academy Award. The Rome Film Fest thus pays tribute to a strong, resolute, and fascinating woman, the unforgettable symbol of our cinema in the world.
