The 19th Rome Film Fest will be held from October 16th to 27th, 2024.

The Fest – officially recognized by the FIAPF (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films) – will take place at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, which will host the main screening theatres and the extensive red carpet, one of the largest in the world. The programme will also involve other locations and cultural entities of the Capital city.

From 2022, the Rome Film Fest has introduced an international competition into its Rules and Regulations. The films in the competitive section will be judged by a jury composed of professionals in the fields of cinema, culture and the arts. The Fest Programme will include other non-competitive sections Encounters with the public, events, special screenings and tributes. Part of the programme may be viewed on the Digital RFF platform. Alice nella città, the independent and parallel sidebar of the Rome Film Fest dedicated to the younger generations, will take place following the same timeline as the Fest, following its own regulations.

The nature of the Rome Film Fest lies in the synthesis between a high-quality programme and a more ample audience: the public, to whom the vast majority of the events in the programme are dedicated, plays the part of the protagonist. Special attention is dedicated to the ticket price policy, which also includes many events with free admission. The ticket office will open one week approximately before the beginning of the Fest and will remain open for the entire duration of the event. A series of concessions will make the experience of the Rome Film Fest more immediate and exciting.

The Fest is organized by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma thanks to the support of the Founding Partners, the Main Partner, BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas and the many partners who every year choose to support the Rome Film Fest and participate actively in the construction of the event: they bear witness to the commitment of companies to support the mission and the values of the Fondazione.

The Artistic Director of the Rome Film Fest is Paola Malanga, journalist and film critic, one of the founders of the magazine Duel and one of the main contributors to Paolo Mereghetti’s Dizionario dei Film (The Films’ Dictionary), author of famous essays on some of the great authors of world cinema and deputy director of Rai Cinema.

Paola Malanga will be assisted by a selection committee composed of: Giovanna Fulvi, expert in Asian cinema and one of the programmers of the Toronto Film Festival; Enrico Magrelli, film critic, former Director of the Settimana internazionale della critica; Emanuela Martini, film critic, former Director of the Torino Film Festival; Nico Marzano, Head of the cinema section of the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art in London); Alberto Pezzotta, film critic and historian, former member of the selection committee at the Venice International Film Festival.

The previous editions featured the participation in the Fest of many of the protagonists of world cinema. Many films have won the highest awards, such as the Oscar® and the Golden Globe, the most renowned awards in European cinema, such as the European Film Awards, the César and the Goya, or in Italian cinema, from the David di Donatello to the Nastri d’Argento.
