Focus, the most eclectic of the Festival sections, cuts across cultural boundaries yet weaves a common thread of cinematic grounding through all art forms presented. Following the chosen culture of today the arts will take the stage, offering its most contemporary, significant, expressions. Seven films of the most recent productions, will enrich the slate and alternate with other special events. There will be panels dedicated to industry topics and special screenings at the Business Street (the Festival's industry market); a retrospective; the official exhibition of the Festival, encounters with foremost and distinguished artists of the guest country; an impressive floral installation on the red carpet and a big opening event. After previous editions dedicated to India (2007), Brazil (2008) and the Environment (2009), the 5th edition of the International Rome Film Festival turns its spotlight on Japan.
