Anteprima - Premiére composes the Official Selection together with Cinema 2008. It represents the Festival’s red carpet for the major international premieres, consecrated at last year’s festival by event films such as Sean Penn’s Into the Wild;  Elizabeth: The Golden Age, directed by Shekar Kapur; Youth Without Youth, which marked Francis Ford Coppola’s return to directing; Across the Universe by Julie Taymor; Giorni e Nuvole by Silvio Soldini, Rendition by Oscar-winning Gavin Hood and The Dukes by Robert Davi. The exciting evening event was designed to reconcile the superb quality and exclusiveness of the films showcased with the glamour of the stars in attendance, and it succeeded brilliantly. High-caliber stars such as Cate Blanchett, Sean Penn, Francis Ford Coppola, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Geoffrey Rush, and Tim Robbins all graced the marvellous red carpet leading to Renzo Piano’s Auditorium. And that’s not counting the two premieres of August Rush and Enchanted organized in collaboration with the Alice nella città section. Perfecting the formula so successfully tested at last year’s Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma, Anteprima - Première’s 2008 edition will feature eight major international premieres.
