From Asia to the USA, from Latin America to the Middle East and Europe. From the first work they tell us of the violent transformation of the society and the delirious racists, to numerous directors that narrate new and old feminine identities. From the return of the great classic directors like James Ivory, Miquel Littin, Carlos Saura, Margarethe Von Trotta, Radu Milheanu the attention toward the youth, to the stories of the thousand wars or the contemporary economic and spiritual crisis rewritten with an author point of view that sometimes fades into comedy. And then the new Italian directors, Giorgio Diritti, Alessandro Angelini, Donatella Maiorca, Luca Lucini, ending with the directing debut most unexpected, the excellent Sefania Sandrelli.

The Official Selection of the International Rome Film Festival will be for the film in competition (for the first time judged by a jury composed of respected artists from the worlds of art and of culture). The works Out of Competition-Anteprima, in this edition of the Storia and the stories: inspired by literature, and important biographies and strongly made contemporary work, supported by an innovative writing that doesn't forget the strength of narrative. It's not to renounce the world of stars, from Colin Farell, Helen Mirren to Richard Gere, who will interact with the public for an important Master Class, from George Clooney in a role perhaps the best of his career, ending with a Q&A dedicated to Heath Ledger-premiering new material, remembered by his colleagues and by Terry Gilliam. Without forgetting the manga blockbuster Astro Boy, the beastly mythology of The Warrior and the Wolf, the event New Moon, a documentary on the tennis player Panatta which reflects on the famous match again Chile, the marathon with Red Riding Trilogy, a serial thriller that experiments with new worlds between film and TV. Some of these films are games of poetry where glamour is mixed with true cinema. There has also been an real emergence of religious or mystic themes (in the films of Von Trotta, Hoffman, Coen and the event Popieluszko with the presence of Lech Walesa).
