MARC'AURELIO AWARD BY THE ISTITUTO POLIGRAFICO E ZECCA DELLO STATO
For the 2011 edition of the International Rome Film Festival the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato has created the awards that are assigned to the Festival winners. These are representations (in a scale 1:16) of the famous equestrian statue, the bronze copy of which has dominated the Campidoglio square since 1997. This is a project conceived by the School of Medallion Arts, produced in collaboration with the State Mint. The copy of the statue is made by using a special indirect reproduction technique which has used a photo model of the monument done by the Central Institute for Restoration of the Ministry for Cultural Affairs. The surface of the work thus created was then modelled by the students of the school, while the moulding, the casting and final assembly of the bronze monument was overseen by Mint technicians.
